Privacy Policy

Downstage Arts is committed to protecting the privacy of our students, families, donors, and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Downstage Arts collects limited personal information, and only when it is voluntarily provided to us, such as when you:

  • Register a student for a class, workshop, or program

  • Sign up for our email newsletter

  • Make a donation

  • Contact us through our website or by email

  • Attend or register for an event

This information may include name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and, for program registration, a student's age or grade level and a parent or guardian's contact information. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without a parent or guardian's involvement.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account details (these are handled directly by our payment processor), or sensitive personal information beyond what is reasonably needed to run our programs.

2. Photos and Video

We may take photos or video during classes, rehearsals, performances, or events for use on our website, social media, and in promotional materials. Families are asked to provide consent for this at the time of registration, and can opt out or request removal at any time by contacting us.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Register and communicate with students and families about programs

  • Process donations and send donation receipts

  • Send newsletters and updates (only to those who opt in)

  • Improve our programs and services

  • Comply with legal or contractual obligations, including agreements with school partners

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to help operate our organization, including:

  • Mailchimp for email communications

  • Givebutter for donation processing and donor management

These providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data on our behalf. We only share the minimum information necessary for them to provide their services.

5. School and Program Partnerships

Where Downstage Arts partners with a school or school district to deliver programming, any student data collected in that context is limited to what is reasonably necessary to deliver the program, and is handled in accordance with our agreement with that school or district and applicable student privacy laws.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Choices

You may:

  • Unsubscribe from our email communications at any time

  • Request that we update or delete your personal information

  • Withdraw photo/video consent for your student

To make a request, contact us using the information below.

8. Children's Privacy

Our programs serve students, including minors. We rely on parents and guardians to provide consent for a student's participation and any related data collection. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without parental involvement.
